BLACK MOUNTAIN — The 42nd annual Diocesan Youth Conference will be held at the Blue Ridge Assembly April 26-28.
The theme is “Darkness Enlighten,” based on John’s Gospel, chapter 1, verse 5: “the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

FOREST CITY — The Blessing of the Throats, through the intercession of St. Blaise, was administered on Feb. 2, after the Vespertine Mass, and on the saint’s feast day, Feb. 3, at Immaculate Conception Church in Forest City.
The blessing was imparted by Father Herbert Burke, Deacon Andy Cilone and Deacon David Faunce.
Special candles used in the blessing were purchased by Deacon Cilone at the Church of St. Blaise in Dubrovnik, Croatia.
St. Blaise is the patron saint of the city of Dubrovnik.
